Christopher Mariano, DO is a board-certified Sports Medicine physician specializing in non-surgical musculoskeletal care, regenerative medicine, and ultrasound-guided procedures for orthopedic and spine-related conditions.
Dr. Mariano completed his Family Medicine residency at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, followed by a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at Texas A&M University. During fellowship, he trained extensively in both academic and community-based settings, caring not only for Division I collegiate athletes but also for active individuals from the surrounding community with sports-related injuries, overuse conditions, and degenerative joint disease, including osteoarthritis.
His clinical practice emphasizes precision, image-guided care with a strong focus on ultrasound-based diagnostics and interventions. Dr. Mariano has advanced experience with orthobiologic and regenerative treatments, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP), bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC), and micro-fragmented adipose tissue (MFAT), as well as minimally invasive tendon procedures. These therapies are used to promote healing, improve function, and help patients avoid surgery whenever possible.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Dr. Mariano prioritizes identifying the true pain generator and tailoring treatment to each patient’s anatomy, activity level, and goals. He routinely treats shoulder, hip, knee, foot, ankle, and spine-related conditions using advanced ultrasound guidance to ensure that your treatments are getting to the right place.
Dr. Mariano works closely with physical therapists, athletic trainers, and referring physicians to ensure coordinated, outcome-driven care. His patient population includes competitive athletes, active adults, and individuals seeking non-operative solutions for chronic musculoskeletal pain and arthritis.
He remains actively engaged in continuing medical education and emerging research in sports medicine and regenerative therapies, with a practice philosophy centered on restoring function, reducing pain, and helping patients return to the activities that matter.
